Time Ball station damaged

From Afternoons, 1:39 pm on 28 February 2011

A center piece of Lyttleton since 1876 is what looks to be a small Scotish castle clinging to the hillside above the port. In fact the building was purpose built as a time ball station. Every major port in the world had one by the mid 1800's so that ships captains could set their chronometres to the exact time each day.
