About 10 days ago we were trying to arrange for Bejing based Christchurch chef, Phillip Kraal to join us on the food slot. But last week his plans changed dramatically. Phillip was Executive Chef at the Langham Place Beijing Capital Airport, while also keeping an eye his Christchurch restaurant, The Crumpet Club, on the corner of Durham and Tuam Streets. Within 48 hours of last weeks quake, Phillip Kraal had resigned his Beijing post, cleared out his apartment there, and returned to his hometown.
