Your Place - Huntly

In 1872 the early settlement Huntley Lodge was given it's name by it's poster master, after his home in Aberdeeshire in Scotland. It was an ideal place to settle, close to massive coal reserves and with easy access to the mighty Waikato River. Within a few short years the LODGE part of the town's name was dropped, as was the letter E.
