Skiers stranded at Mount Lyford Skifield

From Afternoons, 2:06 pm on 27 July 2011

250 skiers are stranded on a Canterbury mountain after heavy snowfalls and strong winds blocked roads. They spent last night in the lodge at Mount Lyford Skifield near Hanmer Springs, and efforts continue this afternoon to make their passage down the mountain safe. Doug Simpson owns the skifield and has been working all day to get the road clear to get the skiers down.
