Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey

From Afternoons, 3:10 pm on 23 April 2012

The British period drama 'Downton Abbey' is filmed at Highclere Castle on the Berkshire, Hampshire border in the South of England. The Carnavon family has lived in the castle since 1679. A scriptwriter could not have come up with a story arc more dramatic than the life of the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and his wife Lady Almina. And who better to tell their story these days than Fiona, the current Countess of Carnarvon. Her new book, 'Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey: The Lost Legacy of Highclere Castle' tells the story of the castle during the First World War and of her husband's great-grandmother.
