Nelson's Transit of Venus tower

From Afternoons, 2:09 pm on 6 June 2012

History is repeating itself today at an Historic House in Nelson. Almost 130 years ago Arthur Samuel Atkinson built a tower next to his home, Fairfield House, to watch the December 1882 transit of Venus. Earlier today students from Nelson Girl's College were hoping to walk in Atkinson's footsteps and climb the tower stairs to try to get a look at the 2012 transit of Venus.
