Deep Throat

From Afternoons, 2:10 pm on 15 June 2012

Sunday is the 40th anniversary of a burglary that would bring down a United States President and re-define and underline the power of the press. A source, known only as Deep Throat, told reporters where to look for evidence proving the President was involved in a break-in at Washington's Watergate Hotel. President Nixon was forced to resign, 69 government officials were charged, and 48 found guilty. For decades the identity of Deep Throat remained a mystery, but in 2005 former FBI Associate Director Mark Felt came forward and admitted he was the one who helped Washington Post journalists Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward with their story.
