Night Market

In a small arcade in central Wellington, preparations are underway for the city's fourth weekly night market. Organiser Lily Kao says night markets are familiar and much-loved events in the bustle of her native Taiwan - so she's brought the idea to Wellington's Left Bank arcade, just off Cuba Street. The event is growing in size already, with 5000 people showing up last week to enjoy live entertainment, and sample the stallholders' food and wares.
