Churchill Archive Sale - Mike Buck

From Afternoons, 2:10 pm on 12 July 2012

It's been described as the most daring flight of World War Two - Winston Churchill and the top brass of the English war machine crossing the Atlantic by plane in January 1942. On board that return flight was a young Navigator, Ron Buck, who took photographs of Winston Churchill including one in the pilot's seat chomping on a signature cigar, Ron also persuaded his famous passengers to sign a dinner menu. The photos and the menu were part of a collection from the famous flight which sold at auction in Auckland yesterday for 27-thousand dollars. It was put up for sale by that young navigator's nephew who lives in Tauranga, Mike Buck.
