Author Joanne Drayton on the search for Anne Perry. It is, without question, one of the most famous murder cases in New Zealand history. Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme bashed Pauline's mother to death with a half brick wrapped in a stocking on a walking path in Victoria park in Christchurch's Port Hills in 1954. Both served were convicted, spent more than 5 years in prison, and then disappeared from New Zealand. Then in 1996, another intriguing twist in the story: Juliet Hulme's new identity was revealed as crime writer Anne Perry, living in a remote village in Scotland. Ever since then, she has never spoken to a biographer in depth about her story, until now.
