Whitebait season begins

Whitebait numbers are declining and four out of five whitebait species are on the official Department of Conservation threatened species list. Paul Decker, researcher at the Mahurangi Technical Institute thinks they may have found a way to breed the giant kokopu, which could mean a breakthrough in the commercial farming of whitebait.
