From the temperance movement to the vibrant and entrepreneurial trends of microbrewers today, beer is a big part of our culture and history. It makes up about 60% of the entire alcohol market. Michael Donaldson is the deputy editor of the Sunday Star Times and writes a weekly beer column, and he's written a book about the evolution of the amber brew in New Zealand.
