Lost flight - Aotearoa

From Afternoons, 2:10 pm on 24 September 2012

On January 10, 1928, Lieutenant John Moncrieff and Captain George Hood set off from Sydney, attempting to become the first pilots to fly across the Tasman. They were in a modified five-seater monoplane called Aotearoa. He's told his story to Nelson Bays search and rescue volunteer Sherp Tucker who now thinks there is enough information to conduct a search, and use it as a training exercise at the same time.
