Kimble Bent - the Pakeha Maori

Kimble Bent was an American soldier in the British army, sent here in the 1860s during the New Zealand Land Wars. He deserted and was adopted by Maori and fought alongside paramount Taranaki chief Titokowaru. Bent was labelled a traitor by the government and was buried in an unmarked grave at Omaka cemetery.
