Mark Inglis and Philip Doole

From Jesse Mulligan, 1–4pm, 2:10 pm on 29 November 2012

Thirty years ago today, Mark Inglis and Philip Doole checked out of the Middle Peak Hotel - a crevasse near the summit of Mount Cook - after having been trapped for 13 long days in terrible weather conditions. Both men suffered such severe frostbite that their legs had to be amputated below the knee. But both men have also remained passionate about climbing and the outdoors; Mark became the first double amputee to summit Mt Everest and won a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games.
