Your Place - Tairua

From Afternoons, 1:20 pm on 20 June 2013

Thirty kilometres east of Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula, at the mouth of the Tairua river. On the south bank is Pauanui, and on the north bank the town of Tairua - in Maori "two tides". Tairua has a great surf beach which lies between the twin peaks of Mount Paku, an extinct volcano, standing sentinel 180 metres above the harbour entrance.
