Topics - The child advocacy group, ChildForum, has described as "horror stories" almost 250 complaints to the Ministry of Education last year. They included a child bitten by her teacher, teachers smacking children and staff smoking near pupils. The University of Otago politics lecturer Bryce Edwards says an Auckland mayoral poll suggests a huge protest vote against Len Brown. Horizon, an online polling specialist, has the incumbent Len Brown 4 percentage points ahead of rival John Palino, who is reported by the National Business Review to have strong support in Franklin and North Shore.
