Topics - It's three years since the explosion ripped through the Pike River coal mine. It was at 3.45pm on November 19, 2010 there was a large methane explosion at the West Coast underground mine, north of Greymouth. Two miners survived the blast and it was initially thought 29 others could be rescued. The two brothers sentenced to community detention for serious biosecurity breaches after scorpions were smuggled into Queenstown from Australia. An American television presenter has prompted outrage after boasting online that she killed a lion in South Africa.
