Your place - Owaka

From Afternoons, 1:22 pm on 13 March 2014

On the border of Otago and Southland is the Catlins, once New Zealand's "Forgotten Coast" but it's had a revival in recent years with tourism, and this is the largest town in the area. Previously it was known as Quakerfield, but in 1896 it was made the terminus of the Catlins River branch railway line and it's name reverted to the Maori - Owaka, or the place of canoes.
