Mum of a thousand children

For the past thirty years Julie Manahi has mothered over a thousand children. Julie began work as a foster parent in the mid-1980s, and by 1989 had set up her own foster home in Auckland, helping to feed, teach, and raise up to ten children at a time at Pirimai foster home. But this Mother's Day she's hanging up her boots to keep a promise to her recently late husband to retire.
