Joan Bairstow

Joan Bairstow is in her nineties and lives a quiet life in Wanaka, but seventy years ago she was caught up in history, war, and secrecy. As a young woman, Joan was an RAF radar operator in northern England during the Second World War. It was the latest technology at the time, and helped win the Battle of Britain.
