Lynda Chanwai-Earle chats to the highly energetic Prayas cultural group in Auckland about themes of social injustice and how they’re managing to embrace the community at large with their creative projects.
Prayas is fond of addressing challenging ethical issues facing our ethnic communities, whilst bringing these stories to the wider public. Their current production Rudali the Mourner is about the Hindu custom of employing lower caste women, complete strangers, to mourn at ones funeral. Rudali the Mourner is showing this week at the Tapac Centre, Auckland until 27 May 27.
