AT THE MOVIES #704       PLAYING THE PERCENTAGES

Simon Morris applauds the number of New Zealand films this year, but wonders if they’re  hedging their bets too much.

The Changeover is a New Zealand film with lots of promise – a book by Margaret Mahy, stars including Melanie Lynskey, Timothy Spall and Lucy Lawless – and directing couple Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie.

Flatliners is a remake of the old Julia Roberts-Keifer Sutherland thriller of the Nineties.  This time round, it stars Ellen Page and Diego Luna.

And Lady Macbeth – another hit from the Film Festival – is described as “Wuthering Heights as directed by Alfred Hitchcock”! Starring the riveting Florence Pugh.
