At the Movies

From At The Movies, 7:30 pm on 22 February 2017

Simon Morris reviews three films for At the Movies that all, in one way or another, are about cultural misunderstandings.

The Great Wall, set in the 12th century, chronicles two European adventurers who get more than they bargained for (monsters) when they reach the Great Wall of China.

Award-winning German film Toni Erdmann features a high-flying executive being embarrassed by her practical-joking father.

And Martin Scorsese’s Silence is a passion project about religious prejudice and concerns the fate of three Portuguese missionaries in 17th century Japan.
