The Police Commissioner has hit back at what he calls a 'racist slur' made by the Maori Party co-leader, Pita Sharples; Whanganui iwi's Treaty of Waitangi claim over Whangaunui River has moved up a notch - with the Crown and the tribe signing a Record of Understanding; The Tangata Whenua representative on a committee which helped develop a comprehensive land and water management strategy for Hawke's Bay, agrees with the thrust of what's proposed, but not how it's been put together; Pita Paraone is attempting to get back into Parliament - by standing for New Zealand First in the Whangarei electorate.
