Ngati Kahungunu Chairman, Ngahiwi Tomoana, says their concern about water rights and ownership is quite different to the issues which other iwi have presented to the Waitangi Tribunal; The Treaty lawyer, Annette Sykes, says the Crown is paying 300-thousand dollars to large iwi, to receive advice on freshwater issues - but smaller tribes don't see a cent or get the support; The Corrections Department is seeking tenders from organisations interested in providing Tikanga Maori programmes for inmates in four of its Maori Focus Units; Massey University School of Sport and Exercise has just started research into what the best exercise is for Maori men, to reduce their risk of diabetes and obesity related illnesses.
