Tributes are being paid to a prominent Te Arawa leader who died today, after a long battle with diabetes; A veteran of the 28th Maori Battalion has died, reducing the number of surviving veterans to 25; A tribal neighbour of the Porirua-based iwi, Ngati Toa, has begun a final bid in the High Court in Wellington today to stop the Crown from giving away land it has rights to; The Tamaki Maori Village near Rotorua has picked up an award for best indigenous experience throughout Australasia.
