Kakepuku is a steep, distinctive mountain to the south west of Te Awamutu in Waikato. Seventeen years ago local farmers started pest control work on its 200 hectares. Now the bush has regenerated, and in 1999 native robins were translocated from Pureora Forest. More recently native falcon, karearea, have been added to the mix.
