In its heyday, Te Aute college had more than 200 students and produced leaders like Sir Apirana Ngata, Professor Mason Durie and Bishop Brown Turei, to name just a few. However the latter years have been less kind to the Hawkes Bay school. It currently has a role of 80. Ana Tapiata talks with deputy head boy Petara Hakiwai, about the benefits of a T.A. education.
