Twelve months on from the devastating quake, health services in Canterbury are functioning remarkably  well, although in some sectors they are fragile and vulnerable.

Damage in buildings is still being uncovered and services are moved at short notice.

The disruption is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

Radio New Zealand's Health Correspondent, Karen Brown, reported on how the health services were coping a month after the quake.

She returns a year later to assess how services are functioning now and what the future holds.
