Philippa Tolley visits 4 Australian Covention Centres to see if the new facilities planned for NZ can compete?
The government would like a private/public partnership to fund the new, bigger Christchurch convention centre revealed in this week’s blue print.
At the same time, negotiations are still on-going between the government and Sky City over a proposed international convention centre in Auckland and the Auditor General’s office is conducting an inquiry into the expression of interest process.
As discussions and investigations continue, Insight looks at the competition in Australia and asks whether there is still a market for a three thousand plus centre in NZ and at what is needed to make a competitive venue
