3:00 Classic Concert: The Living Room Tour

Recorded in 2004, the tone of this recording is reflected in the title. King set out on a US tour of small venues with just two backing singers, a bass player and guitarist, with herself on piano. This allows her to strip back the arrangements and lay bare her catalogue of 40 years of classic songs - from being a Brill Building house songwriter in the 60's, to releasing albums under her own name since the 70's. She has an easy intimate rapport with the audience as she takes them on a musical journey through her life (Rockingale)

'Matinee Idle is Radio New Zealand's Mufti Day. They let me and Simon "loose in the asylum". We get to be the guys testing the outer limits of listener patience and we benignly abuse this privilege.' says O'Brien. 'They let us play whatever we want! It's every radio presenter's dream.'
