Classic Concert:

Commander Cody - Live From Deep In The Heart of Texas

Commander Cody and The Lost Planet Airmen play bar room country, rock-a-billy and boogie-woogie with a mischievous sense of humour. Their style of country music comes more from the hardcore traditions of Ernest Tubb than the hippie folk and bluegrass of their peers at the time. This recording captures the band in 1973 from a concert at The Armadillo World Headquarters in Texas - wild, loud and fun.

'Matinee Idle is Radio New Zealand's Mufti Day. They let me and Simon "loose in the asylum". We get to be the guys testing the outer limits of listener patience and we benignly abuse this privilege.' says O'Brien. 'They let us play whatever we want! It's every radio presenter's dream.'
