New Zealand teenagers' scores in an international test of maths, science and reading have reached their lowest point ever.

Results from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) test of half-a-million 15 year olds around the world were published over night and New Zealand's scores in all three subjects have dipped.

But the Government says the drops are not statistically significant and mean New Zealand's performance has stabilised after a sharp drop in the 2012 round of testing.
