Wellington College has opened an investigation after two students posted the comments on a private Facebook page on Sunday.

One of the comments, which were believed to have been posted on Sunday night, said: "If you don't take advantage of a drunk girl, you're not a true WC boy."

The comments were also seen by other students who were so concerned about them, they notified parents.

Wellington College principal Roger Moses says the comments are disgusting and deplorable.

He told RNZ he thinks the boys are "absolutely distraught about what's happened."

But Russell Smith who helped start "Mates and Dates" a high school programme which tackles attitudes about sex and consent says the boys are most probably distraught because they were caught.
