'Hit and Run' author defends "major inaccuracies" claim

From Morning Report, 7:11 am on 27 March 2017

The Defence Force is rejecting claims made in the book Hit and Run, saying New Zealand troops were never involved in operations in the two Afghan villages named in the book.

The book claims six civilians died and 15 were wounded in raids directed by the New Zealand SAS which also involved American helicopter gunships and  Afghan forces.

After meeting with the Prime Minister and Defence Minister last night the NZDF released a statement accusing Hit and Run of "major inaccuracies".

It said the central premise of the book was "incorrect" and it seems to have the support of Mr English.
