Northern Queensland's wakes to damage from Cyclone Debbie

Northern Queensland is waking this morning to the destruction caused overnight by tropical cyclone Debbie.

Australia's Insurance Council is expecting the damage to run into the hundreds of millions of dollars.

The storm began hitting the coastal city of Mackay late yesterday afternoon, it has now  been downgraded to a category one storm.
