Six birds will be released this afternoon, with at least 34 more to follow over the next six years.
Auckland Council Biodiversity manager Rachel Kelleher says the kiwi will be welcomed onto the local marae this afternoon and then released later on in the Hunua ranges... So long as they manage to catch the last four birds in the Coromandel this morning!
