Laid off workers suffer employment and earnings hit

A new study has found workers who are made redundant experience a significant and lingering hit in earnings and job prospects. Income is a third lower in the first year than those still working, and still 15 percent less after five years. it comes after more recent research showing New Zealanders found new jobs after being laid off were considerably worse off in terms of pay, working hours and job quality. We speak to one sound engineer laid off in 2015.
