'Those trucks coming through at 3am make things rattle' - St Arnaud hotel welcomes reopening of rail line

The Picton to Christchurch rail link that was destroyed during the Kaikōura quake may be open to freight trains in weeks.

St Arnaud Alpine Lodge owner Leighton Marshall says he's welcoming the line's return.

"One of the police officers who comes in for his morning coffee says he's seen more accidents in the last eight, nine months than he has in his entire career, as far as trucks go."
