Dairy farming threatening forestry's role in reducing emissions

A forest owner's group says efforts to meet emissions reduction targets is being derailed by a lack of affordable land for tree planting. In a recent submission to the Productivity Commission, it says forest owners are being outbid for land by dairy farmers. They have proposed some provocative solutions. One of the submission's authors is the chairman of the Forest Owners Environment Committee, Peter Weir.
