The contest for the Māori electorate of Hauraki Waikato is being called the battle of the blue bloods.
Both the current MP Nanaia Mahuta and her cousin the Māori Party's Rahui Papa are members of the kāhui ariki - the Māori King movement, but only one has the backing of the current King, Tuheitia Paki.
