Why some Māori are embarrassed to speak te Reo

A new project has found many Māori are embarrassed to speak te Reo because they're scared of offending fluent speakers or because they don't look Māori.

The teacher leading the project says almost every Māori person she spoke to felt whakamā (embarrassed) to speak te Reo at some point in their lives.
