Milford Track 'disgusting' with human waste - DoC contractor

Human waste and toilet paper is littering the Milford Track, as another busy summer tourist season approaches, says a Department of Conservation contractor. About 14,000 people hike the South Island track every year, known around the world for its scenic vistas and landscapes, but locals say poor management is ruining the experience. DoC is not denying there is a problem, but says it's not widespread, and the department is working hard to educate tourists about the rules.
