Vanuatu eruption: Tensions mounting in evacuation centres

From Morning Report, 7:28 am on 3 October 2017

Tensions are mounting in evacuations centres in Vanuatu where thousands of people fleeing the volcano on Ambae are being crammed into make-shift evacuation camps without adequate shelter, food or water. The provincial government authorities are getting sick of waiting for help from Vanuatu's national government and are asking for more help from overseas to be given to them. It's particularly bad in Espirito Santo where well over half of the more than 11,000 Ambae residents have been taken. RNZ Pacific reporter Koroi Hawkins has been speaking to some of them there.
