A minute's silence has been observed following last night's mass shooting in Las Vegas. At least 58 people died - and more than 500 were wounded - in what is the worst mass shooting by a lone gunman in US history. The gunman, named by police as the 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, opened fire from his 32nd floor hotel room window. His target was a music festival about 300 metres away on the other side of the busy Las Vegas Boulevard where about 22,000 people were watching. The gunman's brother Eric Paddock spoke to US media - and he could barely believe what had happened. The US President Donald Trump has spoken at the White House, and called the attack "pure evil".
