Pay overspending shadows Goff's first mayoral year

From Morning Report, 7:27 am on 6 October 2017

Auckland's mayor Phil Goff's marks his first year in office this weekend. But the shine may have come off with details emerging of a $42 million budget blowout on salaries and almost $13 million spent on redundancies. There's also been a 25 percent jump in the number of people paid above $200,000 a year. The mayor, however, is rating his performance with a modest "pleased with some of the things achieved". RNZ Auckland Correspondent Todd Niall sat down with Mr Goff to talk about the year, and joins us now.
