'Most useless airport in world' gets a commercial flight

From Morning Report, 6:17 am on 16 October 2017

The remote British island of St Helena in the South Atlantic has seen its first commercial airline service land safely after a flight from South Africa.

The SA Airlink service gives the island a new connection to the rest of the world, after earlier relying only on a ship that sailed every three weeks.

The UK funded service is hoped to boost tourism and help make the island more self-sufficient. St Helena Independent newspaper owner Mike Olsson tells us it's an exciting day.
