Amnesty urged for thousands of NZ owners of semi-automatics

From Morning Report, 8:27 am on 8 November 2017

A professor of peace studies in Dunedin wants a weapon amnesty for the owners of military-style semi-automatic guns. New figures show 13,000 of these weapons are registered to owners in New Zealand. But many say that number could be much higher - and the guns simply aren't needed in this country. Professor Kevin Clements is a director of Otago University's National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies. He tells us guns are only needed for farming and there's no need for automatic weapons.
