Wellington train lines quiet as strike ensues

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 16 November 2017

Commuters are about to start pouring into Wellington, and none of them on the region's trains. All train lines into the city have gone quiet, as workers for Metlink providers Transdev and Hyundai Rotem have gone on strike. They began their 24 hour strike at 2am, in a fight for better working conditions. About 30,000 journeys are taken in and out of the city every day. RNZ reporter Emma Hatton is at Wellington railway station.
